Google Launches New Fashion E-commerce Platform: Boutiques.com
Part 1 - Quick Analysis: Excellent technology (of course) that allows users to build and refine their own boutiques (and follow others), and we are looking forward to seeing the evolution towards a more luxurious, elegant look and feel. ‘Selecting Your Preferences’ and ‘Refining Your Boutique’ is a necessary but long process that significantly aids ‘refinement’ - some additional messaging to give users a heads up would be useful.
That said, the fact that Google is entering this space with such gusto is a testament to fashion’s growing influence on tech companies - and even more evidence of the powerful digital media revolution (consumer-driven) that is currently sweeping across the fashion industry.
We particularly like the philosophy of Boutiques.com team leader Munjal Shah (founder of visual search commerce site Like.com, now owned by Google) as quoted in the NY Times (11/17/10), ““Online fashion shopping has to be universal and curatorial at the same time. This is an answer.”

But, will people use this when they already have Polyvore, which is much more deeply integrated with their retail/E-tail partners?
